Question:
If I plead guilty without hiring a lawyer and take the points, is that cheaper than
hiring a lawyer and avoiding the points?

Answer:
Yes, it is usually cheaper in the short term, but risky as well. Your short-term savings may be more than swallowed by increased insurance premiums. Taking points also may put you on the road to suspension of your driving privileges. You may be in a future situation facing unavoidable points that are added to prior points that could have been avoided. This may lead to a suspension. Why gamble!
